The extremely warm and dry weather we have experienced this month has led to an early snow runoff and a rapid escalation of the fire danger in Minnesota. If the dry weather continues this spring it could be a bad season for wildfires.
Burning permits are currently required in Cook County, and there are already more stringent restrictions in the south-central part of the state.
Please be aware of sparks and fire when working outside this spring, and keep brush and trees trimmed back from your home. Cook County Fire Wise is a good source of information on protecting your property from fire.
