The Grand Portage Reservation is at the northeastern tip of Minnesota. The Air Quality Program has many ongoing projects in order to maintain healthy indoor and outdoor air. These projects include monitoring for regional haze and particulate matter, indoor air quality, invasive plant removal, public outreach, environmental education, alternative energy, and climate change.

Save Money and Energy this Winter

If you want to save some money this winter, here are a couple of tricks...
  • Plug all your appliances into a power strip, and then turn off the strip at night or when you are not using the appliances. Even when they are turned off, if electronics are plugged in, they are drawing electricity.
  • Caulk and weatherstrip your windows, doors, and cracks or openings in your walls.
  • Insulate your water heater pipes, and turn your water heater temperature down 10 or 20 degrees.
I have an Infrared Camera that can detect cold spots in buildings during colder months. Contact me once the temperature drops, and we can search for the areas in your home that may be lowering energy efficiency.
